Herb Garden

Garden is quite a familiar term to everyone involving a group or family of plants, flowers growing together with the help of the soil and the basic nutrients such as the water.

Gardening can be itself of various forms, and one of the types of gardens is also called the herb garden. The herb garden involves the growth, cultivation and maintenance of all types of herbs, may it be the natural, medicinal or any sort of other herbs.

Although the herb garden is the usual development of the herbs in an area like any other garden, it is sometimes taken care of by a specialist so as to use their knowledge for the growth of the necessary herbs in the best possible outcome

In the traditional times the herb gardens included the plants like rosemary, sage, thyme and angelica, but as with the development and advancement of the medical sciences the section of the gardens with the growth of the herbs is called the Garden of Simples.

The herb gardens of the modern days, is either purely functional which includes the use of useful medicinal herbs or it can be completely ornamental, with the aesthetical decorated designs with boxes and raised beds.

The increasing use of the alternative medicines these days has also encouraged people to create their own herb gardens for the growth of the specific types of herbs required for their own use.

People who are inexperienced in this field can perhaps start off with the gardening of a considerably smaller area like about even a small plot of 4 by 6 feet. Here a small family of the herbs used for various basic purposes like cooking and medicines can be grown for initial understanding of the basics of the herb gardening.
