Damiana is a small shrub which originates from the Central and Southern American regions. It falls in the family of the Turneraceae. The shrub consists of blooming small yellow flowers and it is known to have an aromatic characteristic which is because of a certain type of oil that is present in it. Because of this it is sometimes compared with the chamomile having the same aromatic characteristics.

Damiana is used for various special purposes amongst which the herbal medicinal uses are the most important to consider. The Damiana is used for treating the conditions like the common cough and ranging to even constipation and depression cases. The supplements of this herb are known to boost up the energy levels. The shrub is known to have its positive impact on several severe conditions such as the Impotency, Menopause and other related problems to the reproductive organs and their diseases.

Damiana is extensively used for the recreational purposes like for example it is essential for making the Mexican liqueur which is a well known drink. The Damiani can also be used for smoking for the sole purpose as an anti depressant and or a euphoric effect which is highly common now days. Damiana is much slower in burning than the tobacco itself however it is known to be inexpensive. It is better than tobacco smoking in a way that it does not give a smoked out feeling to the user.
